Print & Paper

Print & Paper is STI Group's most traditional business unit. In this industry, STI Group and Hartchrom Schoch GmbH are global market leaders. STI Group has been successfully asserting this position – not least by continuously developing new technologies and adjusting to the industry's requirements. The latest process technologies and specific infrastructures for processing components such as cylinders, rollers, sieve baskets or squeegees ensure the highest level of quality, precision, functionality and profitability.

Marine Propulsion & Power Generation

STI Group's satisfied customers include leading engine manufacturers and their licensees around the globe. In the Marine Propulsion sector, STI Group has developed a process technology for the grooves on piston crowns and the corresponding piston rings for large Diesel engines - a holistic system with a vast solution potential, both for new piston crowns and for reconditioning those that are already coated or not treated. In addition to piston crowns, piston rings, piston skirts and cylinder liners STI Group also treats crankshafts, valves and other power generation components

General Industries

STI Group is a real problem solver in the broad field of «General Industries». For STI Group's global solutions are as multifaceted as the diverse requirements of the various industries. Surface treatments increase the functionality and profitability of components in the chemical, food, textile, film and foil industries as well as in mechanical engineering and a variety of other industries. This is where STI Group's strengths really shine. No matter whether faced with challenging tasks such as coating the largest components, the most complicated forms, customised surface topographies, complex layer structures and high-precision interior chrome plating, STI Group's solutions cater for any demand.

Defense Technology

STI Group's long-term activities in defense technology and in particular the special requirements of this challenging industry led to the foundation of an independent company, Hartchrom Defense Technology AG with its headquarters in Steinach and a production base in Watervliet, NY, USA. In the defense technology sector, STI Group is the market leader in interior chrome plating of medium and large calibre gun barrels for NATO member states.

Automotive

The Teikuro Process is the world's most recognised surface treatment technology for forming tools. Over the course of 30 years the Teikuro Corp. in Japan and the USA has advanced this technology in collaboration with Toyota and adjusted it to the automotive industry's requirements. This process technology enables STI Group to provide the automotive industry with a unique hard chrome surface treatment technology that carries significant economic benefits. Coating the tools increases process reliability, maintenance intervals, availability and matrix lifetime. In addition, the usual post-treatments of the reformed sheet become virtually obsolete. These advantages result in substantial competitive advantages in a challenging market.

Aeronautics

STI Group has created a strong position as a supplier to the aviation industry. With the companies Chromage Pyrénéen SA and Hydrométal SA STI Group has two production bases in southern France where Airbus Industries is situated. The surfaces of aircraft chassis parts, hydraulic and other components are certified to the strict standards of the aviation industry and the government authorities.
